how to: green smoothies

Salad in a cup. That's what I like to call my green smoothie. It has been quite helpful with getting in my daily fruits and veggies. On top of that, these smoothies have been quick and easy to prepare which goes hand in hand with my crazy schedule. Here's my play by play on how to make these delicious and healthy smoothies!

I've been following this simple recipe I found on the SimpleGreenSmoothies website.

This guide has helped me get a pretty basic idea of what and how much should be tossed into my blender. Simply remember the 2 + 2 + 3 formula and you're golden!

Green Smoothie Fruits

My go to greens lately have been spinach and kale, the ultimate superfoods. One thing I like to add to make my smoothie extra creamy and just a bit sweeter is organic vanilla Greek yogurt. All you need is a good spoonful!

I prefer to freeze my bananas so that you have something frozen going into the smoothie that will keep it nice and cold. But a handful of ice cubes work just fine too! The superboosts that I always add to top off my smoothies have been chia and flax seeds. If my smoothie is a post workout snack, I'll toss in a scoopful of protein powder.

And there you have it, a green smoothie! I usually down my smoothies for breakfast (along with 2 boiled egg whites) or as an afternoon pick me up later in the day. I've been hitting up my local farmers market and co-ops for all my veggies and fruits. Support your local farmers! I'll have a post up about my weekend at the Dallas Farmers Market coming up soon. What are your favorite smoothie combinations? What's the craziest green you experimented with? What other superboosts could you suggest for me to try out? Let me know down below!

good luck!
xo.
